Amsterdam's Container Housing
Faced with a severe student housing shortage in Amsterdam, Tempo Housing thought outside the box by using boxes – building dormitories from shipping containers.
With corrugated metal frames on the outside, it has the outside look of a container straight off a ship, yet Tempo Housing designs containers that provide 30 square meters of heated living space complete with showers, toilets, kitchenettes, windows and balconies.

total size
while each unit mearures 30 Square meters, or, 322 sq ft, it seemed an easy enough concept to combine units to produce a slightly larger per person set up (because of the additional need of water closets/ kitchens/ spas along with a heated pool....
But, loaded flat on the ground, not two levels.
Second levels could be built, to, I guess.
What a great idea this is.
Maybe the market isn't obvious in the US, but, I assure you, there is probably a market.
get the credit
It’s not extremely wanted, people stay there simply because they don't have much of a choice. So don't try to hype it up. The people have a hard time to believe that it’s a regular home, because from the inside it is NOT an regular home. The soundlevel is not acceptable to start with. The living standard in these so called student campus is very low. In fact a lot of these containers stay empty most of the time. Students are often easy customers because they tend to get pushed around a lot without being able to come up with any adequate complains. By pulling a cheap trick like that, these companies manage not only to make an easy profit but doing a good pr. job as well. As They get to claim the credit for "fullfilling" their "social responsebilities". Appear to be social is a big thing in The Netherlands. I get the sense that there is a certain group of people inside the States, that tend to be fooled easily by this appearance as their own communities are less pretentious in this area.
