LePage a Salesman for Maine

Over the weekend, delegates from Maine traveled to the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts to promote Maine's finest foods and recreational opportunities. Known as the Big E, it's the largest fair in New England.

Saturday, October 2nd was also designated as "Maine Day" at the fair. Governor Paul LePage was there to act as Maine's top salesman.

“Selling Maine grown and Maine built is economic development that goes into every corner of our State,” Governor LePage said in a statement. “The State of Maine building at the Big E is an excellent tool to introduce some of Maine’s best products to millions of customers of Southern New England.”

There is a Maine Building on the site for visitors and it is a replica of Maine's original statehouse from the colonial era. The building, which was built in 1925, featured goodies like blueberries, smoked salmon, baked potatoes lobster rolls and whoopie pies. Vendors in the building included Alan Claude Designs of Farmingdale, Isamax Snacks of Gardiner, Lovell Designs of Portland, Maine Aquaculture Association, Bob’s Sugarhouse of Dover-Foxcroft, Minikins of Farmington, Hancock’s Gourmet Lobster of Topsham, Nickerson’s Kettle Corn of Newburgh, Designs by Dannie of South Berwick, Maine Tourism Association, Maine Office of Tourism, Maine Potato Board, Wild Blueberry Commission of Maine, The Maine Highlands and the Maine Beaches Association.
