Maine Beats Idaho in Basketball
Portland, Maine -- Maine and Idaho rarely compete, unless its over potatos. And Idaho's production in the spuds department has been number one in the country for years.
Well, at least Maine can beat Idaho in basketball. Last night at the Expo, the Maine Red Claws (9-16) dug themselves out of an eight point hole going into the third quarter to pull off a stunning 97-94 victory over the visiting Idaho Stampede (8-16).
The Red Claws' Lawrence Hill hit a go-ahead 3-pointer as time expired to seal Maine's second straight win. Morris Almond scored 21 points, ten of which were in the fourth, to lead the team in scoring.
The Stampedes were led by Terrico White's 20 points. Former Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker added 19 points.
Next up, the Red Claws host the Reno Bighorns on Sunday at 5 PM.
