Pats Win Old-School

The New England Patriots beat the arch-rival New York Jets (who are really based in a swamp in New Jersey) at home on Sunday evening 30-21. The Pats (4-1) now share the top slot in the AFC East with the Buffalo Bills, although the Bills beat the Pats in Week 3.

Tom Brady entered the game with an NFL leading 388 yards passing per game and the Pats QB ended up with a solid 321 through the air with a touchdown (Brady also gave up an end zone interception but it should have been caught for a TD).

This time, it was the running game and the defense that led to a win for New England. The Pats D held Jets QB Mark Sanchez to just 16 completions in 26 attempts for 166 yards.

Brady finally got some help on offense as running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis put in a career day during the old-school football victory.

Green-Ellis logged 136 yards on the ground and added two touchdowns. He averaged a respectable five yards per carry.

"It's not just an individual effort," Green-Ellis said in his 'company man' post-game interview. "It's all 11 guys out there. Nothing happens without those guys up front. They did an extremely good job of getting to where we needed to get to and allowing me to make reads and cuts off them."

The Pats host the Dallas Cowboys at Gillette Stadium next Sunday.
