Portland Jetport's New Terminal Opens
The new $75 million terminal at the Portland International Jetport is open today for business.
The terminal features an environmentally-friendly geothermal heating and cooling system and shops by Maine brands like Linda Bean's Perfect Maine Lobster Roll and Cool as a Moose.
The new terminal will service JetBlue and US Airways flights.
The public was invited to tour the new 145,000 square-foot facility yesterday. Maine Senator Susan Collins and Congressman Mike Michaud and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
1.8 million passengers used the Jetport last year. With the new terminal, that figure should rise as more flights bring people to Maine for work and pleasure.
