Why Maine's Congressman Mike Michaud Supports the "Cash for Clunkers” Program

The US House has quickly moved Friday to revive H.R. 3435, a bill that would transfer $2 billion from funds previously appropriated for the Energy Department's Innovative Loan Guarantee account to the “Cash for Clunkers” program, also known as CARS.
The Senate is expected to take action on the bill next week.
Maine's Congresspeople Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud both supported the bill. Rep. Michaud has released a statement explaining his position:
