Where Sarah Palin Hunts for "Mama Grizzlies"
SarahPAC, the political action committee associated with former Alaska Governor and current reality TV sensation Sarah Palin, has amassed $3.4 million this election cycle and has already dished out $2.4 million this year, according to data compiled by OpenSecrets.org.
$134,500 has gone directly to help Republican candidates win their elections for Congress. The rest has gone to expenses such as travel, political consultants and media buys.
SarahPAC has also spent over a half a million bucks on fundraising. So where is Palin finding her biggest "Mama Grizzlies"
Surprisingly, Palin has managed to pick up one top donor (those that give the legal limit of $5000) from the liberal havens of Boston, New York City and Las Vegas. But only person from the entire State of California has given Palin's PAC the big check thus far.
The chart here shows where the $5000 donors have come from. Support is especially strong in Tennessee and Louisiana.
Overall, individual donors has given 1529 large ($200+) contributions to SarahPAC in 2009-2010, as of the latest FEC filings in July.
