Bruce Brown: Maxine Waters "Must Stand Trial, Cut a Deal or Retire"
Republican Bruce Brown is challenging Democrat Maxine Waters to "stand trial, cut a deal or retire," according to an August 4 post on Brown's website.
Waters, who currently represents California’s 35th District, is facing House ethics charges over allegedly trying to orchestrate special dealings for her husband's banking interests.
"I am confident that once the subcommittee report is released and I am able to present my case, my constituents and all Americans will understand that I have not violated any House rules," Waters wrote in a letter to the House Ethics Committee on Wednesday.
However, according to Brown, Waters should be removed no matter what happens with this trial. In Brown's view, Waters "consistently has been recognized for years as one of the most corrupt members of Congress. For her entire 20-year career, she has only looked after herself, her family interests and her corrupt friends in Haiti."
Brown also disputes those who argue the Waters investigation is "racially-tainted."
"The truth is, this issue is not about the color black," Brown wrote. "It’s about the color of the green money at the heart of Maxine Waters’ illegal financial self-dealing."
