Maine Tea Party Group Denounces Racism

An active Maine Tea Party group is distancing itself from the Tea Party Express, another group that makes up the large libertarian movement.

A spokesperson for the Tea Party Express recently resigned after posting a racist satire of the NAACP, which had just passed a resolution suggesting the Tea Party movement was racist.

Here is the statement from Andrew Ian Dodge, Maine coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots:

This is a good time to emphasize, once again, our independence. Tea Party Patriots have never been involved with Tea Party Express. Tea Party Patriots, whether nationally or in Maine, does not work with the Tea Party Express.

Tea Party Patriots Maine does not tolerate racism in any form from any source.

We exist  only to further our core values of fiscal responsibility, limited government and the free market.
