Last week Portland’s Firefighters Union, Local 740, rallied at City Hall in protest of the recent layoff of 6 firefighters.
9 positions were lost in total, including the 6 laidoff firefighters and three vacant positions, when Local 740 voted against taking a one-year cost-of-living wage freeze.
Now the Forecaster reports Local 740 hopes federal funds can assist in restoring these lost jobs towards the end of the summer. The sought after grants....
