Germans Can Opt Out of Google Street View

German homeowners and renters will be able to opt out of Google's controversial Street View program before it launches next year. With a single objection, Google will have to skip its surveillance of a property. The privacy measures are unique to Germany, according to Deutsche Welle.

Like it has done in America, Google sends out cars equipped with cameras along city streets to capture images for its website. Users of the search engine can then see 3D renderings of an area.

Germans have expressed privacy concerns and politicians have protested Google's program for years. The European nation has tough privacy laws due to its Nazi past.
