May 15 Is National “Endangered Species Day”

On Wednesday, the US Senate passed a bipartisan resolution designating May 15, 2009 as the fourth annual "Endangered Species Day." The resolution was proposed by Maine Senator Susan Collins and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and cosponsored by several Senate members from across the country; its purpose is to promote the ongoing protection of endangered species and educate the public about threats to the environment.
