Department of Education Grants Bowdoin over $400,000

Today the US Department of Education awarded Bowdoin College of Brunswick, Maine a grant of $423,070.
The money was given on behalf of the Upward Bound Program, which aims to help students prosper after secondary school.
"We are pleased to see this funding dedicated to the worthy cause of advancing the academic future of low-income students," said Maine Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a joint statement. "By starting early, the Upward Bound Program can help these students become the first in their families to go to college and enhance their academic and personal potential."
