New York City Thrives Today Despite 9-11 Tragedy

After terrorists destroyed the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, many wondered whether New York City could ever bounce back.

Ten years later, it's clear that America's largest city has not only recovered but thrived.

The photo here shows a huge crowd of New Yorkers frolicking during "Fashion's Night Out" on Thursday in SoHo, a neighborhood just north of downtown Manhattan.

That's not to suggest the 9-11 tragedy will ever be forgotten. Twin beams of light shoot towards the heavens from the World Trade Center site in tribute. Thousands of victims were killed that horrific day and thousands more have had their lives shattered, at home and abroad due to America's reckless misadventures in the Middle East. And even though Osama bin Laden is gone and Al Qaeda is weakened, the terrorist threat remains.

However, thankfully life goes on. It must go on.
