The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands is sponsoring another first-time camper contest this season, giving away a "complete camping weekend" to 32 Maine families. Corporate sponsors include LL Bean, Poland Spring, Oakhurst and Hannafords.
According to the state's news release, over 700 families applied last year to the first-time camper contest, with 50% of the winners claiming that they would not have tried camping without the state stepping in.
