Feds Beating Green Computer Procurement Plans

Since January of this year, all federal agencies have had to buy EPEAT-certified computer products, whenever possible. EPEAT is to computers what LEED is to green buildings, a tiered ranking system developed by a nonprofit-government partnership.
According to a new progress report issued by EPEAT, 13 of 22 federal agencies have already met the procurement goal of buying EPEAT-certified IT equipment 95% of the time.
"This is particularly notable because the EPEAT requirements are new and being implemented along with security and other IT requirements," said Dana Arnold, Acting Federal Environmental Executive, in a statement.....
