Virtually Connected
A week ago, I went to visit a longtime friend out-of-state. While I was pleased to catch up with my friend after a long time apart and while I enjoyed the movie we saw, I was dismayed at my friend’s behavior. Now, my friend didn’t say anything wrong to insult me; the problem was that my friend said very little at all. From the time I got there until the time I left, my friend had her cell phone on her every moment. Texting, texting, texting – at dinner, while she was driving us to the theater, in the theater, on the ride home, and while I was talking to her. Hello, are you listening to me? I’m glad I drove out-of-state to watch you....
