Located downtown on Congress Street in the old Porteous Building, in the heart of the Downtown Arts District, the Maine College of Art (MECA), founded in 1882, is the oldest arts school in Maine. Fully accredited and a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, MECA not only provides the opportunity for both Bachelors and Masters degrees to its students, it also delivers educational programs for adults and high school students.
