MaineToday Media Giving Out Free Newspapers

Portland, Maine -- Richard L. Connor, the new publisher of the Portland Press Herald, the Kennebec Journal in Augusta and the Morning Sentinel of Waterville has a plan to boost circulation: give the papers away for free.
Connor's new firm, MaineToday Media, will provide 100 rack boxes across the state with courtesy editions to compete with free print weeklies. The papers typically cost 75 cents during the week.
Connor claims that he will make the papers "more responsive to the community."
