NOAA to Launch Online Monitoring of Northeastern Fishermen

Starting May 1, fisherman in the Northeast's groundfish sector will have their catches monitored in near real-time by an online data portal that's run by the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
“All of these innovations will make it easier for fishermen to run their business and demonstrate compliance with regulations," said Patricia Kurkul, northeast regional administrator for NOAA’s Fisheries Service. "At the same time, we will be able to gather the information needed to effectively monitor the catch rates set to protect and restore groundfish stocks.”
